A rich, comforting casserole inspired by classic cheeseburger flavors and topped with crispy tater tots.
Ingredients

Ground beef – 900 g (2 lb)

Onion, finely chopped – 1 medium (about 150 g)

Garlic, minced – 3 cloves

Salt – 1½ teaspoons

Black pepper – 1 teaspoon

Paprika – 1 teaspoon

Garlic powder – 1 teaspoon

Ketchup – 180 ml (¾ cup)

Yellow mustard – 2 tablespoons

Sour cream – 240 ml (1 cup)

Shredded cheddar cheese – 340 g (3½ cups)

Frozen tater tots – 900 g (2 lb)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and grease a 23 x 33 cm (9 x 13 inch) baking dish.

Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

Add onion and garlic; cook until softened. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.

Stir in ketchup and mustard, simmer briefly, then remove from heat and mix in sour cream.

Spread beef mixture into baking dish and top with half of the cheese.

Arrange frozen tater tots evenly on top and sprinkle with remaining cheese.

Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra crispy tater tots, broil the casserole for the final 2–3 minutes. Customize with your favorite cheese blend or add vegetables to the beef layer for variety.
