Description

This creamy garlic chicken is the ultimate comfort meal for busy weeknights or cozy family dinners. Tender chicken simmered in a rich, velvety garlic sauce makes every bite satisfying and delicious. With simple ingredients and easy steps, this dish quickly becomes a regular favorite at the table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (thinly sliced if thick)

  • 1 teaspoon salt (more to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided

  • 6 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup chicken broth (low sodium)

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Pat the chicken breasts dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  • Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5–6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Set aside on a plate.

  • Lower heat to medium and add the remaining butter to the skillet. Stir in minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  • Pour in chicken broth and scrape up browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes.

  • Stir in heavy cream, Italian seasoning, and Parmesan cheese. Let the sauce bubble gently until slightly thickened. For a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water and add as needed.

  • Return chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over the top. Simmer another 3–5 minutes until heated through.

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with pasta, rice, potatoes, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Do not boil the sauce aggressively or it may separate; keep it at a gentle simmer.

  • If chicken breasts are thick, slice them in half for even cooking.

  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat slowly and add a splash of broth or cream if the sauce thickens.

  • You can add mushrooms or spinach to the sauce for extra flavor and veggies.
