Description

A cozy, creamy, tomato-based orzo dish with seasoned beef, perfect for weeknights and family meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, finely diced (about 1 cup)

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 1/4 cups (250 g) dry orzo pasta

  • 2 cups (480 ml) low-sodium broth (vegetable or beef)

  • 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) tomato sauce

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream

  • 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese

  • Fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté the onion for 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and cook briefly.

  • Add the ground beef, breaking it apart and cooking until browned. Season with oregano, basil, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  • Stir in the dry orzo for 1 minute, then add broth and tomato sauce. Bring to a simmer.

  • Cover and cook on medium-low for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Add heavy cream and Parmesan, stirring until creamy.

  • Adjust seasoning and garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

For a thinner sauce, add additional broth. Vegetables such as spinach or mushrooms make great additions.
