Description

A crunchy, golden snack with a melty cheese center, made easily in the air fryer for a lighter yet satisfying treat.


Ingredients

  • 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks (about 340 g / 12 oz)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (125 g)

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tablespoons water

  • 1 ½ cups seasoned breadcrumbs (75 g)

  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (30 g)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

  • Non-stick cooking spray or 1 tablespoon neutral oil


Instructions

  • Pat mozzarella sticks dry and set aside.

  • Place flour in one bowl. Whisk eggs and water in a second bowl. Combine breadcrumbs, panko, and seasonings in a third bowl.

  • Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, then egg mixture, then breadcrumb mixture. Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating once more.

  • Freeze breaded sticks for at least 1 hour until firm.

  • Preheat air fryer to 390°F (200°C).

  • Arrange frozen sticks in a single layer, spray lightly with oil, and air fry for 6–8 minutes, turning halfway.

  • Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

  • Freezing is essential to prevent cheese from leaking.
