Ingredients

Scale

For the Garlic Bread Bowls

  • 4 small round bread loaves (sourdough or Italian)

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • ½ teaspoon salt

For the Chicken Alfredo Filling

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Slice the tops off the bread loaves and hollow out the centers, leaving ½-inch thick walls. Save the removed bread for dipping or croutons.

  • Mix softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt in a small bowl.

  • Brush the garlic butter mixture inside the hollowed bread loaves and on the tops.

  • Bake the bread bowls for 10–12 minutes until golden and slightly crisp. Set aside.

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Season chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.

  • Cook chicken in the skillet for 5–7 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove from skillet.

  • In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat and sauté minced garlic for 1 minute.

  • Pour in heavy cream, stir constantly, and bring to a gentle simmer.

  • Gradually whisk in Parmesan cheese until smooth, then add mozzarella and nutmeg if using.

  • Return cooked chicken to the skillet and stir to coat in Alfredo sauce.

  • Spoon the chicken Alfredo mixture into each garlic bread bowl.

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use firm sourdough or Italian bread to prevent soggy bowls.

  • For extra gooey cheese, add provolone or fontina along with mozzarella.

  • Chicken thighs can be substituted for a juicier option.

  • Make ahead: prepare Alfredo sauce and chicken in advance and reheat before filling.

  • Serve with a side salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
