Description

Sweet, tender, and perfectly glazed, these Honey Glazed Carrots are a simple yet elegant side dish that complements any meal. Coated in a buttery honey glaze, they bring a warm, golden touch to both everyday dinners and festive holiday spreads. This recipe transforms humble carrots into something extraordinary—beautifully caramelized, slightly savory, and irresistibly sweet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds carrots, peeled and cut into 2-inch pieces (or use baby carrots)

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 2 ½ tablespoons honey

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar (optional, for deeper caramelization)

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the carrots and cook for 6–8 minutes, until tender but not mushy. Drain well and set aside.

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, stir in the honey and brown sugar (if using). Cook for 1–2 minutes, until the mixture becomes glossy.

  • Add the cooked carrots to the skillet and stir to coat evenly in the glaze. Continue cooking for 4–5 minutes, allowing the glaze to thicken and cling to the carrots.

  • Season with salt and black pepper, adjusting to taste.

  • Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh, firm carrots for the best flavor and texture.

  • Do not overcook the carrots—slightly firm centers help them hold shape.

  • For a deeper flavor, try adding a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or garlic powder to the glaze.

  • A squeeze of lemon juice at the end helps balance the sweetness.

  • This dish can be made ahead by boiling the carrots, then glazing just before serving.
