Ingredients
-
12 ounces (340 g) high-quality dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
-
1 cup whole almonds, toasted
-
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
-
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
-
1/4 teaspoon sea salt, plus extra for sprinkling
-
Optional toppings: white chocolate drizzle, crushed almonds, or shredded coconut
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the almonds on a baking sheet and toast for 8–10 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden. Allow to cool.
-
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
-
Chop the chocolate into small pieces. Melt slowly over a double boiler or in short microwave intervals, stirring frequently until smooth.
-
Stir in softened butter, vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon sea salt until fully incorporated.
-
Pour melted chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly to about 1/4 inch thickness. Sprinkle toasted almonds over the chocolate and press lightly.
-
Optional: drizzle with melted white chocolate or sprinkle additional crushed almonds or shredded coconut.
-
Allow chocolate to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, or refrigerate for 15–20 minutes until firm.
-
Once set, lift the chocolate from the sheet and break into irregular pieces.
-
Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
Notes
-
Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
-
Ensure almonds are evenly distributed for consistent crunch in each bite.
-
To prevent chocolate bloom, allow the bark to set at a cool room temperature.
-
Variations include adding mixed nuts, dried fruit, or a white chocolate marbled effect.
-
For gifting, wrap pieces in parchment or a decorative tin.
