Description

There’s something truly satisfying about a simple vegetable side that feels both comforting and elegant. Parmesan Roasted Broccoli is a dish that transforms ordinary broccoli into a golden, flavorful delight that’s perfect for weeknight dinners, holiday gatherings, or a casual summer meal. Inspired by classic Italian cooking, this recipe highlights the natural sweetness of roasted broccoli enhanced by the nutty, savory taste of freshly grated Parmesan. Garlic, olive oil, and optional red pepper flakes add depth and aroma, making it a dish that everyone will enjoy. Easy to prepare and packed with flavor, it’s a recipe that can turn any meal into a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • 3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Juice of half a lemon (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  • In a large mixing bowl, toss the broccoli florets with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Ensure each piece is evenly coated.

  • Spread the broccoli in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, avoiding overcrowding.

  • Roast in the preheated oven for 18-22 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure even browning. The broccoli should be tender with lightly charred edges.

  • Remove the tray from the oven and immediately sprinkle the freshly grated Parmesan over the hot broccoli. Toss gently to coat.

  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the broccoli for a bright, zesty finish if desired.

  • Serve hot as a side dish or a healthy snack.

Notes

Ensure broccoli florets are cut to similar sizes for even roasting. Adjust red pepper flakes to taste for desired heat. For extra crispiness, do not overcrowd the baking sheet. Use freshly grated Parmesan for best flavor.
