A delicious, weeknight-friendly dish featuring tender beef, crisp broccoli, and a sweet-savory honey garlic sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s perfect for busy evenings when you want a comforting, homemade meal without the fuss.
Ingredients
-
1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
-
3 cups fresh broccoli florets
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1/3 cup honey
-
1/4 cup soy sauce
-
1 tablespoon cornstarch
-
1/2 cup water or beef broth
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
-
Optional: red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions
-
In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, water (or broth), and cornstarch until smooth. Set aside.
-
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef in a single layer and cook 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.
-
Add broccoli to the same skillet and cook 2–3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
-
Add minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the prepared sauce and stir to combine.
-
Return beef to the skillet and toss with broccoli and sauce. Simmer 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli evenly.
-
Serve immediately over steamed rice, noodles, or quinoa.
Notes
-
Slice beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
-
Avoid overcrowding the skillet to allow proper browning.
-
Keep broccoli slightly crisp for texture contrast.
-
Adjust sauce thickness by adding extra cornstarch slurry if desired.
-
Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
