Description

A delicious, weeknight-friendly dish featuring tender beef, crisp broccoli, and a sweet-savory honey garlic sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s perfect for busy evenings when you want a comforting, homemade meal without the fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced

  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 1/2 cup water or beef broth

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • Optional: red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, water (or broth), and cornstarch until smooth. Set aside.

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef in a single layer and cook 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through. Remove beef from skillet and set aside.

  • Add broccoli to the same skillet and cook 2–3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.

  • Add minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the prepared sauce and stir to combine.

  • Return beef to the skillet and toss with broccoli and sauce. Simmer 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli evenly.

  • Serve immediately over steamed rice, noodles, or quinoa.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.

  • Avoid overcrowding the skillet to allow proper browning.

  • Keep broccoli slightly crisp for texture contrast.

  • Adjust sauce thickness by adding extra cornstarch slurry if desired.

  • Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
