Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal

  • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal

  • 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal

  • 2 cups mixed nuts (peanuts, almonds, or cashews)

  • 1 cup pretzel sticks

  • 1 cup bite-sized cheese crackers

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine Rice Chex, Corn Chex, Wheat Chex, mixed nuts, pretzel sticks, and cheese crackers.

  • In a small bowl, mix smoked paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, oregano, and crushed red pepper flakes.

  • Melt butter and combine with olive oil. Pour over the cereal mixture and stir gently to coat evenly.

  • Sprinkle the spice blend over the mix and toss until all pieces are coated.

  • Spread the mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake for 45–60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes for even roasting.

  • Let the Chex Mix cool completely on the baking sheet to allow it to crisp.

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level by reducing or increasing cayenne and red pepper flakes.

  • Mix-ins can be customized with different nuts, seeds, or crunchy snacks.

  • Keep in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain crunch.

  • Reheat briefly at 300°F (150°C) if the mix softens over time.
