Description

These Sweet & Savory Honey Garlic Chicken Skewers are the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors, ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner, summer barbecue, or casual gathering with friends and family. The honey glaze combined with garlic creates a tender, flavorful chicken that’s quick to prepare and always a crowd-pleaser. With a simple marinade and easy cooking steps, you can enjoy juicy, perfectly cooked skewers in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into 1-inch cubes

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free option)

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

  • Wooden or metal skewers (soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before use)

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, garlic, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

  • Place chicken cubes in a large resealable bag or bowl, pour marinade over, and ensure all pieces are coated. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 2–4 hours.

  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat or the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Thread chicken onto skewers, leaving small gaps between pieces.

  • Grill skewers for 10–12 minutes, turning every 3–4 minutes, or bake for 15–20 minutes, turning halfway through, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

  • Optional: Heat reserved marinade in a saucepan for 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened and brush over cooked skewers.

  • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use chicken thighs for juicier results.

  • Leave space between chicken pieces on skewers for even cooking.

  • Marinate longer for more intense flavor.

  • Adjust honey to taste for sweetness preference.

  • Pair with rice, quinoa, or grilled vegetables for a complete meal.
