Description

This beef and broccoli is a quick, flavorful dish that brings together tender beef, crisp broccoli, and a savory sauce perfect for any night of the week.

Ingredients

  • Beef flank steak or sirloin, 450 g (1 lb), thinly sliced

  • Broccoli florets, 400 g (about 4 cups)

  • Garlic, 4 cloves, minced

  • Fresh ginger, 1 tablespoon, grated

  • Neutral cooking oil, 2 tablespoons

  • Low-sodium soy sauce, 80 ml (1/3 cup)

  • Oyster-style sauce, 2 tablespoons

  • Brown sugar, 2 tablespoons

  • Cornstarch, 1 tablespoon

  • Water, 120 ml (1/2 cup)

  • Sesame oil, 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  • Whisk soy sauce, oyster-style sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, water, and sesame oil in a bowl.

  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook beef for 2–3 minutes, then remove.

  • Add remaining oil, garlic, and ginger to the pan. Cook briefly until fragrant.

  • Add broccoli and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes.

  • Return beef to the pan and add sauce. Stir and cook until thickened.

  • Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

Slice the beef thinly against the grain for the most tender texture. Adjust sauce seasoning to taste and serve immediately for best results.
