2 pounds (900 g) ground beef

1 medium onion, finely diced

2 large eggs

3/4 cup (90 g) breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

3 tablespoons (42 g) butter

3 tablespoons (24 g) all-purpose flour

3 cups (720 ml) beef broth

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon onion powder
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Mix ground beef, diced onion, eggs, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce until combined. Shape into 6–8 patties.

Brown patties in a skillet for 2–3 minutes per side.

Melt butter in the same skillet. Whisk in flour to form a roux.

Slowly add broth while whisking. Add thyme, parsley, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Simmer until thickened.

Place patties in a baking dish and pour gravy over them.

Bake for 30–35 minutes.

Rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or chicken. Pairs beautifully with mashed potatoes or noodles.
