Description
A hearty and balanced dish combining tender steak, crisp broccoli, and fluffy rice for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients
500 g (1.1 lb) beef steak (sirloin, ribeye, or flank), thinly sliced
2 cups (400 g) white rice
4 cups (1 liter) water
2 cups (180 g) broccoli florets
3 tablespoons (45 ml) vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon (15 ml) soy sauce
1 tablespoon (15 ml) oyster sauce
1 teaspoon (5 g) ginger, grated
1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
1/2 teaspoon (2 g) black pepper
1 teaspoon (5 ml) sesame oil (optional)
1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch (optional)
2 tablespoons (30 ml) water
Instructions
Rinse rice and cook with water until tender, about 15–18 minutes.
Slice steak thinly and season with salt and pepper.
Blanch broccoli for 2–3 minutes and set aside.
Heat oil and sear steak until browned, then remove.
Sauté garlic and ginger in the same pan.
Return steak and add broccoli.
Stir in soy sauce and oyster sauce.
Add cornstarch mixture if desired and cook until thickened.
Drizzle sesame oil and serve over rice.
Notes
Slice steak against the grain for tenderness. Adjust seasoning to taste. Use fresh broccoli for best texture and color.
